David Crawley enjoyed a good weekend of racing, lowering his 10 mile PB to a rapid 17:54 in the SSLL Charity 10 on 11.09.2016. The event was a historic one as One Pro Cycling’s Marcin Biablocki set a new British record of 16:35, taking a staggering 45 seconds of Alex Dowsett’s none too shabby existing record of 17:20. David’s result put him only 2 seconds behind Michel Hutchinson’s 2014 40-44 vet’s record of 17:52 and only 5 seconds down on the all time fastest vet’s time, set in the SSLL event by Steve Irwin.
The following day, David was in action at the National Circuit Champs in the West Midlands on a testing circuit, which combined hilly A-roads with a short but sweet dual carriageway section. A last minute mechanical meant a change of steed from the setup he had used for most of the season and a switch to his old race bike. David managed to win the Vets A prize with a 52:37, which put him just over a minute behind the newly crowned National Circuit Champion, Ryan Perry.
